Born in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, Sonam has been leading tours for over a decade. After completing high school in 1991, he decided to go abroad for university and landed in India, where he studied Medical Science. In 1995, Sonam graduated from university and decided to become a full-time tour guide, where he now specializes in religion and Tibetan Medicine.
Since entering the industry, Sonam has traveled extensively throughout Tibet, learning more about his home province than he could have hoped. He especially loves the personal interaction with clients, and the fulfilling feeling of knowing his group is completely satisfied with their experience.
In addition to leading tours all over Tibet, he is also involved with the Lhasa branch of internationally renowned NGO Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people in more than 70 countries. Always full of positive energy, Sonam is a dynamic leader who genuinely cares. His clients are always impressed with his extensive knowledge on Tibetan religion, as well as his expertise and experience in Tibetan medicine.
