Can I Travel to China Right Now?

WildChina > Insider Tips > Can I Travel to China Right Now?

With vaccine distribution underway, travel to China is expected to ease more. We’ve received many questions about who can travel and where they can go. So, we’ve taken our FAQs and compiled the information below, which we will continue to update as rules and restrictions change.

Who can travel to China now?

As of April 2021, China’s borders are not open to foreign nationals holding tourist visas (L visa). International inbound travel to China is currently limited to the below visas:

  • Work (Z visa)
  • Business (M visa)
  • Family (Q1, Q2 visa)

In addition to the standard visa requirements, applicants are also required to receive full inoculation at least 14 days prior to the application from one of the below-approved vaccine providers and provide a vaccine certificate:

  • Sinovac/Sinopharm
  • CanSino
  • Anhui Zhifei Longcom
  • Moderna
  • Pfizer
  • Johnson & Johnson

Please contact your local Chinese consulate/embassy for the most up-to-date application process and travel requirements from your country.

For visa assistance for U.S. citizens, we recommend our partner China Visa Solutions. For more information, you can visit their  website or contact them by phone at +1 (312) 752-0991. Be sure to ask for Yanli and tell her you are a WildChina traveler – she will make sure you are taken care of.

Do I need to quarantine?

Yes, international arrivals are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine at a designated site. Cities around China have various quarantine requirements, and may require additional quarantine procedures upon arrival.

For example, in Beijing, international arrivals are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine + 7-day at-home quarantine + 7-day health monitoring (travelers are permitted to leave the home but cannot attend large gatherings).
